Getting to Wanaka
Most people fly in to Queenstown, Christchurch
or Dunedin airports and rent a car or jump on a bus. But the big
news is, you can now fly into Wanaka direct from Christchurch.
Air New Zealand is operating return flights once daily. See the
Air
New Zealand announcement for flight details. Christchurch
airport is the main gateway for international and domestic flights
in the South Island. It is only a short connecting flight between
Christchurch and Wanaka or Queenstown.
There are regular flights from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane
to Christchurch and also weekly international flights from Australian
cities into Queenstown airport. |

Alpine Coachlines |

Locally owned, Alpine Coachlines has been providing Ski resort transport through its “Snow Shuttle” service since 1990.
“Snow Shuttle” is a scheduled service with daily departures to Cardrona, Treble Cone and Snow Park / Snow Farm from Goodsports. Accommodation pick-ups are available.
Other winter transport solutions include bus charters, airport shuttle and car rental. Transfer charters available from Queenstown, Christchurch, Dunedin. Airport shuttle operates between Wanaka and Wanaka Airport. Car rental options range from small sedans to 4-wd vehicles and mini-bus rental.

| Wanaka is the resort base for all three skifields,
Cardrona, Treble Cone and Waiorau Nordic snowfield. As with any
of the resorts in New Zealand it is generally a 35-40 minutes
drive from the town base to the snowline and the skifield facilities.
There are several bus companies who offer regular mountain transport,
if you do not have a rental vehicle. The village itself is compact
and it is an easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Adventure
operators will pick you up in the centre of town. If you want
to explore further afield, hire a car or mountain bike.
