| The lakeside township of Wanaka is small and convivial
and the atmosphere is something very special. It is friendly, incredibly
beautiful and has just the right amount of everything to give everyone
a choice. Resort visitors can enjoy great cafes and bars, fine-dining
restaurants, several good art galleries and a genuinely funky cinema
- an adventure activity in itself - and loads of off-snow adventure
activities. The town is a mecca for winter and summer adventure.
If you feel like time away from the ski slopes, even in winter you
can choose from from horse-trekking, jetboating and lake cruises,
short walks and magnificent day hikes in Mt Aspiring National Park,
golf, vineyard and craft tours, mountain biking and heli-biking,
hang gliding or sky-diving. You can even fly down to Milford Sound
for the morning, and take a cruise out onto the fiord before flying
back again over the magnificent snow covered Southern Alps.
